I have built a distinguished career as a clinical consultant ophthalmologist, research team leader, military medical leader, pharmaceutical industry executive, and medical entrepreneur. This diverse background has afforded me a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between the clinical, research, and pharmaceutical sectors and their collective impact on patient care and business operations.

My tenure at Théa Pharmaceuticals Ltd enabled me to establish Key Opinion Leaders for expert guidance and lead research initiatives that advanced the medical delivery of their products, ultimately benefiting both patients and the organization. While my endeavour to develop a new eye drop for myopia control did not achieve the desired outcome, it provided me with invaluable experience in navigating the regulatory compliance landscape.
I am committed to delivering clinical services that result in outstanding outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction. In my role as a private medical leader, I have successfully developed new clinical services and contributed to the delivery and marketing of innovative treatments that enhance patient care.

My proven track record includes commercial success and direct translational research as Chief Medical Officer (Ophthalmology) for US companies SonALAsense Inc and Phoenicis Therapeutics Inc, as well as recent initiatives in new drug development. I have collaborated with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) on Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 clinical trials, equipping me with a understanding of the requirements of commercial clients, patients, and regulatory bodies. Furthermore, I possess expertise in designing clinically safe and financially viable systems and processes.

I am honoured to have received recognition for my clinical expertise and research contributions. My work on artificial for war-blinded individuals was featured in the acclaimed BBC documentary ‘Frontline Medicine’ alongside the late Dr. Michael Moseley. In 2008, I was elected President of the Midland Ophthalmological Society, appointed as the Defence Medical Services and Royal College of Ophthalmologists Professor of Ophthalmology, and acknowledged as a top UK surgeon by the Times newspaper in 2011. I was also appointed as honorary Professor of Ophthalmology by the University of Birmingham, received the Lady Cade Medal for research from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014, and most recently, was awarded the Montgomery Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 2024
